A 1/2 day eagle workshop will be held 11 June 2004 in central WI.  Eugene Jacobs of the Linwood Springs Research Station will lead a small group of participants to the Raptor Education Group, Inc (REGI) in Antigo WI.  http://raptoreducationgroup.org/index.cfm   An eagle expert,  Marge Gibson will present on how to handle eagles in a manner that is safe and low stress to the birds as well as the researcher.  Much of the material covered would apply to Golden Eagles as well, but Bald Eagles will be the focus.  Marge will discuss Bald Eagle natural history and behavior both in the wild and in captive situations.  Learn about transporting eagles, floating fish traps, as well as other trapping methods.  Each participant will have the opportunity to handle an eagle if they wish.  Cost is $60 and space is limited.

 
 

 

 

 

 

Marge and Don Gibson
Founders

Marge and Don Gibson founded Raptor Education Group, Inc (REGI) in 1990. Marge has worked with wildlife for over 30 years. She began her work with raptors as a field biologist. She has worked with many high profile field projects including the California Condor Recovery Team and the Bald Eagle Capture and Health Assessment Program in Valdez. Alaska following the Valdez Oil Spill where she was team captain. In addition, Marge teaches wildlife rehabilitation internationally. Don is a recently retired M.D. His specialty is Pathology.

We will meet at the Linwood Springs Research Station (directions below) and travel over to the rehabilitation center near Antigo, WI or arrangements can be made to meet at the center if this is more convenient for the participant.

Directions:

Located 5 miles West of Stevens Point, WI.

Take Hwy 10 West through Stevens Point, after you cross the Wisconsin River Bridge turn left at the first stop-light (Hwy P).  Proceed down Hwy P for 5 miles and turn left on Brown Deer Lane (Dead End).  Continue down Brown Deer Lane for 0.25 mi. follow the road as it turns right, travel another 0.25 mi. and we are on the right side 1601 Brown Deer Lane. 

A note: When on Hwy P, Brown Deer Lane is about 300 ft. before the junction of Hwy P and PP,  Brown Deer Lane turns to the left and Hwy PP turns to the right.
