My testimonial:

"I want to thank you both very much for one incredible week!  I learned so much and met some really nice folks.  I appreciate the hard work, dedication, and enthusiasm that you two put into the workshop.  It’s great that you are willing to share your knowledge and skills with us.  I cannot choose one thing that I most enjoyed because everything was tops, even the tree climbing.  I also want to thank your wife, Gene, for putting up with us tramping back and forth through the house, and cooking a great meal.  I will certainly try to find some fieldwork with raptors so I can use what I have learned."

"Again, thank you very much!"

"The Raptor Field Techniques Workshop was a life changing experience for me. I went into the workshop as a complete novice in my knowledge of birds. In fact, I had never touched a live bird and had some fear of them. Now I'm obsessed with hawks and can't wait to hold another one. The bigger the bird the better! It was through the expert instruction by Gene and Loren that I gained this confidence. During the workshop they patiently answered questions, presented hands-on practice and used humor to help me feel comfortable with trapping hawks. Through good planning and organization we were able to handle raptors every day. Gene and Loren taught and modeled respect for the awesome wild creatures we were learning from. As a teacher of fourth graders I gained knowledge that will apply to many life science lessons in my classroom. The Raptor Field Techniques Workshop was incredible! I recommend it to everybody."

My testimonial:

"Anyone who loves birds and especially raptors should find the time to attend this workshop.  I felt like I was part of their family while there- camping by the pond, eating in the Jacobs home (great meals!) and enjoying the birds."

My testimonial:

"This workshop was excellent! I learned more about raptor biology, ecology, and research techniques in this one week than I have in all of my classes and books combined. It was well worth the trip from Canada to attend, and I'd encourage anyone interested in having an exhilarating hands-on learning experience to sign up for this workshop!"

Cheers all!

"The hands on experience that I gained by taking the workshop will surely aid me in furthering my career in ornithology.  From learning proper handling techniques to constructing and using multiple styles of traps, this workshop went above and beyond what I was personally expecting to get out of it.  I was also very fond of the telemetry exercise and the "in-class" stuff that both Gene and Loren taught.  The nest location technique taught by Dennis will also come in handy when I begin to do whatever it is that I will be doing with birds."

“It was exactly what I was looking for.  The experience increased my confidence working with birds.  The trapping techniques were incredibly innovative and actual hands-on experience with equipment cannot be replaced.  The instructors are experienced, knowledgeable, friendly, and love their work.  This workshop would be very beneficial for anyone with an interest in studying birds of prey.  It was an incredible learning experience.”
